In Zaporizhzhia, an investigation has concluded against a citizen who demanded $10,000 from a local entrepreneur for a non-existent debt.

The investigation revealed that in 2021, the suspect, aware of the assets of the head of a local commercial entity, began to demand a so-called "fee" for his services under the pretense of offering assistance in managing the business.

After receiving a refusal, the man demanded $10,000 in "penalty sanctions" from the entrepreneur. He threatened physical harm and property destruction to force him to hand over the money.
 
Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, an indictment has been sent to court against a resident of the Zaporizhzhia region for extorting money (part 2 of article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
 
Currently, the extortionist is in custody by court order.
