According to the investigation, in June 2024, a resident of the occupied Melitopol knowingly collaborated with representatives of the Russian security service and agreed to engage in subversive activities against Ukraine.
After completing a special training course at the FSB training center, the man received an assignment to kill an official from the Melitopol City Council who lived in Zaporizhzhia.
To carry out this task, the suspect arrived in Zaporizhzhia, posing as a displaced person. He tracked the addresses of his victim's workplace and residence and studied the main routes of their movement.
Subsequently, he ambushed the official in the entrance of a residential building and struck him several times on the head with a hammer. Despite sustaining injuries, the victim survived.
After committing the crime, the suspect planned to return to the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region via EU countries, but he was exposed and apprehended by law enforcement. He is currently in custody following a court decision.
Under the procedural guidance of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, an indictment has been submitted to the court against the Ukrainian citizen for treason and attempted intentional murder, committed on commission (part 2 of Article 111, part 2 of Article 15, part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
