A local man in Pavlograd has been charged by authorities for systematically abusing his wife.

For an extended period, the abuser subjected his wife to verbal insults, using profane language, degrading her dignity, inflicting psychological abuse, and causing physical pain.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Employees of the domestic violence prevention sector repeatedly documented violations, drawing up administrative protocols under Article 173-2 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. Additionally, the man was issued urgent restraining orders. However, he did not cease his actions and continued to torment his wife.

Preventive talks, administrative penalties, and warnings about harsher legal consequences did not have an effect on the man. Based on this, on January 10, the offender was informed of his suspicion under Article 126-1 (domestic violence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty for this article provides for a maximum punishment of up to 2 years of imprisonment.
