In Zaporizhzhia, an individual was caught offering a conscript $10,000 to deregister from military service.

The press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region has reported this.

It has been established that for $10,000, a man promised to arrange for a “client” the opening of a hospital and subsequently obtain fake medical documents indicating the presence of illnesses, as well as conclusions from a medical and social expert commission regarding the existence of a 2nd or 3rd group disability. Such documents would allow the conscript to leave the country without hindrance.

On December 18, law enforcement officers detained the individual based on Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine—immediately after he received part of the agreed sum amounting to $2,000. On the same day, police conducted searches at the suspect's vehicle and residence. During the operation, they seized a mobile phone, cash, medical documents, and other physical evidence.

The detained individual has now been notified of suspicion regarding the crime stipulated in part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transportation of individuals across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanctions for this article provide for up to nine years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
