On the morning of Friday, January 10, part of the Troieschyna neighborhood in Kyiv experienced a power outage. DTEK reported that a serious accident occurred at one of the capital's substations.
This was reported by the Telegram channel "Kyiv24". According to residents, the lights went out unexpectedly. DTEK explained that an emergency situation had arisen. Energy workers are currently addressing the issue. They promised to provide information on the restoration of power supply later.
"We are addressing a serious accident at one of the substations in Kyiv. Some homes in the Desnyanskyi district (Troieschyna) are currently without electricity. We are assessing the scope of work, and after that, we will inform you about the restoration time. We are doing everything possible to restore power as soon as possible," DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks stated on their Facebook page around 7:50.
The Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv informed that a fire occurred at one of the substations on Zakrevskoho Street in the Desnyanskyi district at 6:34. The fire has already been extinguished by rescuers.
"The fire occurred in a cable channel at the substation. After receiving permission to extinguish the fire, it was eliminated at 7:44 using fire extinguishers. There were no casualties. The cause of the fire will be investigated by law enforcement authorities," the statement said.
It is worth noting that on the night of January 10, debris from Russian drones fell in Kyiv. They landed on a multi-story residential building, but in a different area of the capital — Solomianskyi. As of the publication time, there is no information regarding whether the substation accident is related to the Russian attack.
As reported by "Telegraph," on Thursday, January 9, a heat pipeline burst at the intersection of Zhylianska and Symona Petliury streets near the railway station in Kyiv. Traffic was hindered.
