Ukraine will send a team of rescuers to the USA, which is currently suffering from massive wildfires. This involves a group of 150 firefighters.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made this announcement during his traditional evening video address. His remarks were reported by the press service of the Office of the President.
"Today, I instructed the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and our diplomats to prepare for the possibility of our rescuers participating in the fight against the fires in California. The situation there is very severe, and Ukrainians can assist Americans in protecting lives," he stated.
According to him, Kyiv has offered help to Washington and is ready to send 150 rescuers to assist.
This intention received a very mixed response on social media and faced a wave of criticism.
However, there were also those who viewed this gesture with understanding.
It is worth noting that Ukraine has actively aided friendly countries in addressing the aftermath of emergencies. For instance, in 2023, they were sent to Turkey, which experienced a devastating earthquake in February 2023, as well as to Slovenia, which faced landslides after heavy rains in October 2023.
Additionally, Ukraine offered assistance to several Central European countries following extensive flooding in September 2024.
As previously reported, critics of Ukraine in the USA have recently discovered that the state provided some firefighting equipment to our country in 2022 amidst the wildfires in California. This information was even shared by Donald Trump Jr. and billionaire Elon Musk.
