On Monday, December 9, a car exploded in temporarily occupied Donetsk. Preliminary reports indicate two "serious" injuries. Some media outlets suggest that the former head of the Yelenovka colony, which held Ukrainian prisoners of war and experienced an explosion in late July 2022 that resulted in the deaths of over 50 captives, might have been involved.
This information comes from Russian Telegram channels. The incident occurred on Universitetskaya Street.
UPD: Russian media report that at the time of the car explosion on Universitetskaya, the former head of the Yelenovka colony, Sergey Evsyukov, was nearby. Preliminary reports indicate he has died.
His wife, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was also injured. She is currently hospitalized in moderate condition. However, this information comes solely from Russian sources, so we await more reliable updates.
The occupying authorities of the so-called "DPR" have announced that a criminal case has been initiated regarding the car explosion in the center of Donetsk.
"Investigators and forensic experts from the Investigative Committee of Russia in the DPR, along with specialists from the Forensic Expert Center of the Investigative Committee of Russia, are conducting a detailed examination of the crime scene and a range of operational-search activities in cooperation with colleagues from the FSB of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR. Several forensic examinations have been appointed, including explosive technical assessments," the propagandists stated.
Videos circulating online show the aftermath of the explosion. The published footage clearly indicates significant damage to the vehicle.
