The USA continues to provide military support to Ukraine. In the latest package of arms, Ukraine will receive three anti-personnel systems.

Despite its venerable age, the M131 system has been in use since the 1980s and was first deployed in combat during Operation Desert Storm, proving its effectiveness time and again. Ukraine has not previously received such weaponry, notes "Defense Express".

The MOPMS is a portable container of small dimensions. It weighs up to 55 kg in combat position and can be carried by two soldiers or transported by vehicle. The mines are launched remotely.

The M131 MOPMS holds seven cassettes containing a total of 21 mines. Among them are 17 anti-tank mines M78 with a magnetic target sensor designed to hit armored vehicles directly from below, and four anti-personnel mines M77. The cassettes are ejected simultaneously, and within 2 minutes they are ready for combat. One volley creates a minefield patch measuring 70 by 35 meters.

"One of the key features of the MOPMS is that the mines deployed by it self-neutralize. This means that they either self-destruct or deactivate after a certain period, which reduces the risk of harm to civilians," notes Army Recognition.

"Telegraf" reported on the latest developments in the defense sector. Ukrainian and German analogs of the Russian "Lancet", drones with X-shaped wings, will target the occupiers.
