The Russian army is attempting to regain control over the territories lost in the Kursk region. However, their tactics have significantly changed recently.
This was reported by Egor Nozdryakov, commander of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade, as conveyed by the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Currently, the tactics of the Russians in Kursk have changed dramatically. They have sent a large number of troops here and are conducting assault operations with a significant number of personnel. They are simply overwhelming us with sheer numbers, like in World War II, with 20-30 people at a time," the military stated.
According to Nozdryakov, in certain areas, this tactic is indeed effective due to the significant advantage in manpower. At the same time, Russia has been employing "meat assaults" since the beginning of the full-scale invasion across various fronts.
"The occupiers draw artillery fire and fpv strikes towards themselves. They jump into thickets, forcing our infantry and assault troops to engage in combat there. Thus, one of our objectives now is to increase machine gun ambushes, expand positions, and bolster personnel numbers," the commander added.
He notes that the role of drones is extremely important due to unstable communication; however, artillery, especially with cluster munitions, is decisive.
"Cluster munitions are a very effective and necessary tool, but they are limited. Two or three guns can destroy half of these numerous columns that are moving through the fields with 20-30 people," Nozdryakov confirmed.
The commander stated that the greatest challenge for Ukrainian troops is the enemy's advantage in human resources, which the Russian Federation does not value and disregards in terms of losses.
"They simply send people to their deaths without a specific objective, without a proper mission," the commander concluded.
Previously, "Telegraph" reported that a British colonel assessed the successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region.
