Every chevron on a military uniform carries significant meaning. This is also true for the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (3 OShBr), which was established during the full-scale invasion of Russia.

"Telegraf" will explain why the chevron of the Third Assault Brigade features three stripes and what they signify. It is worth noting that the 3 OShBr was formed based on the volunteer unit of the Territorial Defense "Azov."

Currently, there are several main types of chevrons for the Third Assault Brigade. However, when the "AZOV-Kyiv" Territorial Defense unit was formed, it did not have distinct insignia.

In May 2022, after the reform into the SSO "Azov," the fighters of the unit received their own shoulder insignia — three golden swords on a blue background. This design was chosen in memory of the "Field of Swords" monument, located near one of the "Azov" regiment's bases, to honor those who fell during the Russo-Ukrainian War.

Over time, the brigades expanded, and their insignia evolved. The shoulder insignia of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade became a stylized symbol of "Idea of the Nation" in an assault design. Upon closer inspection, one can see that it features a vertically crossed letter "N."

Subsequently, a third variant of the chevron emerged, represented not by three swords, but by three vertical stripes. Currently, the official chevron of the Third Assault Brigade consists of three stripes on a blue or green background.

Earlier, "Telegraf" reported on the meaning of the chevron of the legendary 93rd OMBr.
