During the New Year holidays, customs officials, in collaboration with the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB), uncovered a scheme for smuggling cars. The plan involved importing a rare 1976 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II into Ukraine.
This information was reported by BEB. Currently, the vehicle has been seized and is under arrest.
"The basis for the movement of the mentioned vehicle across the state border was a counterfeit certificate of compliance for the individual approval of wheeled vehicles, as confirmed by expert conclusions," the report states.
The State Customs Service explained that according to the documents, the car meets the environmental standards of "Euro-2," which all vehicles imported into Ukraine must comply with. However, the expert assessment revealed that the documents were fraudulent and the vehicle did not meet the standards.
It is noted that the value of such a car in Ukraine could be around 1.2 million hryvnias.
As is known, Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II cars were produced for only three years, from 1977 to 1980. A total of 2,145 units were manufactured.
As previously reported, a Polish citizen attempted to illegally smuggle lemurs out of Ukraine. He offered a substantial bribe to border guards for this.
