In the Rivne region, an indictment has been submitted to the court against a 65-year-old driver who caused a fatal accident at a checkpoint. This was reported by the regional prosecutor's office.
It has been established that at the end of September last year, a resident of Kremenchuk, while driving a tractor-trailer with a tank semi-trailer, collided with the concrete structures of the checkpoint at the border of Rivne and Zhytomyr. The tanker then crashed into a Toyota Rav4 and a service vehicle, a Renault Duster, and subsequently into the checkpoint structure where three individuals were present.
As a result of the accident, a senior police sergeant was killed, while two others—a police officer and a serviceman—sustained injuries.
The truck driver is currently under round-the-clock house arrest. He does not admit his guilt. The indictment has been forwarded to the Rokytne District Court.
