London and Paris could not confirm that Kyiv has permission to launch Storm Shadow missiles at Russia.

Recently, the French publication Le Figaro reported that France and the United Kingdom have allowed Ukraine to use its SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles to strike Russian territory. This came shortly after U.S. President Joe Biden granted Ukraine permission to utilize American long-range missiles known as ATACMS to target Russian and North Korean forces. The weapon will be employed, in particular, to protect Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region of western Russia. However, the White House declined to comment on the situation.

Subsequently, Le Figaro altered the text of the report: “Debates were already raging in offices regarding the authorization to use Western missiles against Russian territory. Macron expressed support for this during a state visit to Germany in May 2024.”

The original publication focuses on U.S. President Joe Biden's approval for Ukrainian forces to strike deep into Russian territory using American ATACMS missiles.

According to information from the British outlet Sky News, the UK government has expressed full support for Ukraine, but refrains from commenting on the authorization for Storm Shadow missile strikes against Russia.
