In Kyiv, a man set up a "booby trap" with an F-1 grenade in a rented apartment, intending to detonate it against police officers. This information was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The investigation revealed that a 43-year-old man, who had previously been convicted multiple times, received an offer via Telegram to earn money by completing certain tasks. His first trial task was to set fire to a cabinet of "Ukrzaliznytsia" in the Kyiv region, for which he was paid 100 US dollars.
The next task involved installing an explosive device in a rental apartment, with a promised reward of 2000 US dollars.
A four-day rental was secured in Pechersk to carry out the plan. Following the provided instructions, the suspect created and installed a homemade explosive device in the form of a booby trap with an F-1 grenade, which was supposed to detonate at a predetermined moment. The explosion and its aftermath were to be captured by cameras in the apartment.
An unknown woman called the police, reporting domestic violence in the apartment, and stated that the door was open, allowing law enforcement to enter, although the apartment was actually empty.
The opening of the door triggered the grenade's detonation; however, the law enforcement officers managed to escape from the apartment.
The man who set up the explosive device was identified and apprehended by the cameras.
He has been informed of his suspicion of committing a terrorist act, which carries a penalty of up to 12 years in prison.
