The European Union is prepared to engage in ensuring peace guarantees in Ukraine. This was stated by the President of the European Council, António Costa, in an invitation sent to the leaders of the European Union for a special summit scheduled for March 6.
“The EU and its member states are ready to take on greater responsibility for Europe's security. Therefore, we must be prepared for a potential European contribution to the security guarantees that will be necessary to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine,” the invitation reads.
Costa also mentioned that he invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the EU leaders' summit on March 6.
It was previously reported that the ministers of EU member states supported a new initiative for military assistance to Ukraine.
Additionally, Finnish President Alexander Stubb outlined a vision project for the peace process.
