In Cherkasy, a 50-year-old man was sentenced to prison for failing to appear at the military enlistment office.

A 50-year-old local resident in Cherkasy has been convicted for evading military service during mobilization.

According to the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, the prosecutor proved in court that the accused, being fit for military service and registered with the military, failed to appear at the Cherkasy Unified City Recruitment and Social Support Center for deployment to a military unit without valid reasons, despite being previously warned about the necessity to report.

“Thus, he evaded conscription for military service during mobilization, in a special period,” the agency stated.

The prosecutor's office added that the court found the man guilty of committing a criminal offense and sentenced him to 3 years of imprisonment.

The court's decision has not yet come into legal force.
