In the Czech Republic, within the Brdy landscape, beavers have successfully implemented a project to restore land that had been in preparation for years. This was reported by the Czech television channel CT24.

In just two days, the rodents constructed a dam that local authorities had been coordinating for seven years.

The dams built by the animals allowed the area to regain its muddy character, saving up to 30 million crowns (1.2 million dollars) in the process.

It has been reported that the beavers constructed several dams and restored the natural wetland characteristics of the area where construction was planned.

The local administration had already obtained permission to revitalize this territory, but the animals accomplished it much faster and without additional costs.

Moreover, the beavers chose the perfect location for building the dams – a drainage canal that the military had constructed on a former test site to dry out the area. Back in 2018, authorities planned to restore the Klabava River, but now this work is no longer necessary.

“The military and state forests, along with the Vltava Water Authority, were discussing projects and land ownership rights, and the beaver simply outpaced them. This resulted in a savings of 30 million crowns at today’s prices,” said the head of the reserve administration, Bohumil Fischer.
