The police in Ternopil reported the death of another child – a 13-year-old girl from a large family due to mushroom poisoning. The girl passed away at the Okhmatdyt Hospital on November 10.
According to the police, doctors were unable to save the patient who was admitted to them in critical condition on October 30.
“This is already the third death. On November 1, a man born in 1965 died, and the next day – the young daughter of his cohabitant,” the police stated.
As previously reported, eight children aged three to seventeen in Ternopil, seven of whom are siblings, along with their mother's partner, were poisoned by mushrooms.
“The family was poisoned by mushrooms on October 27, but they only sought medical help on the third day,” the police noted.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 166 (gross neglect of child care duties) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The mother faces a penalty of up to five years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
