Ukraine is preparing for an escalation of offensive actions from the Russian Federation in the coming weeks, with the front line potentially shifting 30-35 km to the west by December. This is reported by the Financial Times.

The publication also mentions that the biggest challenge for Ukraine remains the lack of personnel, especially infantry. Ukraine plans to draft an additional 160,000 servicemen between November and February.

According to FT, military experts and Ukrainian officials are skeptical about the feasibility of reaching this goal, stating that a more realistic expectation would be to mobilize up to 100,000 individuals.

"They believe this would cover about half of the personnel shortfall, which would still be an improvement, as some units are currently staffed at only about a third of what is needed," the publication notes.

It is worth mentioning that the head of the "Come Back Alive" foundation and ATO veteran Taras Chmut stated that for effective defense, Ukraine needs to mobilize around 500,000 people.

People's Deputy and Secretary of the National Security Committee Roman Kostenko also asserted that, given the current situation on the battlefield, it is necessary to mobilize 500,000 men.
