A case against a 38-year-old previously convicted resident of Voznesensk has been sent to court in the Mykolaiv region. He demanded $1,000 for a non-existent debt, as reported by the regional prosecutor's office.
During a vehicle exchange under a swap deal, the accused handed over a car to the victim with a fake registration document. The victim used the vehicle for several months until police stopped him and discovered signs of document forgery. Upon learning this, the victim contacted the accused, who promised to resolve the issue.
After the investigative actions were completed, the car was returned to the victim under a receipt, but the accused drove away in the vehicle from the local police department.
Taking advantage of the situation, he demanded $1,000 from the victim for supposedly "solving the problem." After paying $500, the victim got the car back, but the threats did not cease.
The accused continued to demand the remaining amount, threatening the victim with physical harm.
In September 2024, the perpetrator was apprehended while receiving the remaining sum of $500.
