In the streets of Verkhniodniprovsk, located near Dnipro, a wild boar was spotted. The animal strolled through the streets without any hesitation, even approaching surprised onlookers at almost arm's length.
A corresponding video was shared on the Telegram channel "Trukha Dnipro". The short clip shows the boar wandering around the city streets as if it were at home.
"Whose buddy got lost? Take him home already," reads the caption to the video.
Netizens noted that this visitor was roaming near the city hospital and began to make jokes about the situation.
The invasion of wild boars into urban areas can occur for various reasons, with the primary one being the search for food and a loss of fear of humans. As seen in the video above, the animal clearly noticed the person with the camera, as it passed just a couple of meters away. However, it did not seem to be bothered by this at all. At one point, it even decided to focus its attention on something in the vegetation near a tree instead of watching the camera operator.
The increase in the wild boar population is happening in many regions of Europe due to the extermination of natural predators that would typically regulate their numbers. In Ukraine, the situation is further exacerbated by ongoing military actions, which force animals to migrate to safer areas.
As previously reported, the head of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine," Yuriy Bolokhovets, mentioned that the unusually warm winter has altered the habits of many local animal species and made the climate suitable for some invasive species.
