The former governor of North Dakota and businessman Doug Burgum, whose nomination was put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump, has been confirmed by the Senate as the head of the Department of the Interior of the United States, writes "Voice of America".

Burgum's nomination was approved with 79 votes in favor and 18 against.

During the hearings on his nomination, he stated that he intends to expand auctions for the rights to develop oil and gas fields, as well as support reforms in the permitting process that could expedite the development of energy projects such as the construction of power lines and pipelines.
