The Paris prosecutor is seeking a five-year prison sentence and a ban on running for office for the leader of the far-right French party "National Rally" Marine Le Pen. She is accused of money laundering related to the European Parliament, writes BFMTV.
It is noted that the prosecutor is requesting a five-year prison sentence for Marine Le Pen, with two of those years potentially being suspended, as well as a fine of 300,000 euros for orchestrating a money laundering scheme benefiting her political party.
Additionally, prosecutors are calling for her to face a punishment in the form of a ban on running for elections.
As is known, Le Pen is accused of using "fake" assistants to illegally transfer funds from the European Parliament, which were intended to pay real assistants but were actually used to finance party activities.
Throughout the trial, which has been ongoing since September 30, Marine Le Pen has repeatedly denied her guilt, claiming that the case has political motivations.
