The President of South Korea Yoon Suk-yeol has resumed golfing after an eight-year hiatus, preparing for upcoming meetings with newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump. This was reported by Reuters.

It has been revealed that Yoon visited a golf course on November 9. The last time he played golf was in 2016.

Analysts believe that Yoon might be looking to leverage his personal relationship with Trump to advance Seoul's interests.

During his presidency from 2017 to 2021, Trump met several times with then-South Korean President Moon Jae-in, where golf also played a prominent role in their meetings. Notably, during his visit to South Korea in 2017, Trump referred to Korean golfers as "some of the best on Earth" and praised South Korea's love for golf.

Seoul is preparing for potential economic changes, and Yoon has called for consultations between the government and industry regarding Trump's return.
