A 35-year-old woman posed as a volunteer and stole from an elderly couple in Dnipro. Law enforcement has apprehended her for the crime.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

As established by law enforcement, on January 29, the perpetrator came to the apartment of elderly individuals, introduced herself as a volunteer, and brought them food supplies. While in the victims' residence, the suspect informed the 85-year-old grandmother that she was also entitled to monetary assistance and asked her to change a 1000 hryvnia note. While the victim was looking for change, the perpetrator noticed a hidden stash. Taking advantage of the elderly woman's trust, she stole a bag containing money and left the city of Dnipro.

On the same day, criminal police officers in the region tracked the suspect's route and stopped the minibus in which she was traveling.

On January 30, investigators informed the woman of her suspicion under part 4 of Article 185 (theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. She faces up to 8 years behind bars.
