The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the implementation plan for the Maritime Security Strategy developed by the Ministry of Defense. According to Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, this is a significant step towards enhancing the maritime security of the state.

The document outlines the tasks defined by the Strategy, which was endorsed by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) and approved by a Presidential Decree.

The main tasks of the plan include:

  • strengthening the capabilities of Ukraine's security and defense sector, as well as the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Maritime Guard of the State Border Service to counter aggression and respond to other maritime security threats;
  • de-occupation of temporarily occupied coastal areas, internal waters, and continental shelf of Ukraine;
  • securing compensation for losses caused by the aggressor and restoring damaged maritime and river infrastructure.

Earlier, it was reported that the Government has established a working group to coordinate the Maritime Security Strategy.
