The Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski stated that the Polish government is considering the possibility of providing Ukraine with a defense loan for the purchase of Polish weapons. The repayment of the loan is proposed to take place after the war and the reconstruction of Ukraine is completed. He reported this during an interview with Polsat News, noting that this proposal was put forward by the government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Sikorski did not specify whether the idea is still under discussion or if concrete steps have already been taken for its implementation.
“This could have been done from the very beginning: come on, buy on Polish factories on credit, and when you rebuild, you will pay it back,” the minister commented.
Earlier, the Polish minister had already expressed similar sentiments while commenting on the criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who noted that Warsaw “found yet another reason” to delay the transfer of MiG fighters.
