The petition to reconsider the "Thousand of Zelensky" distribution program has gathered enough votes.

The petition for reviewing the support program for Ukrainian citizens during the winter period, which proposes to distribute one thousand hryvnias to each individual, has gathered the required 25,000 votes. It is now set to be reviewed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

The author of the petition pointed out that the proposed program has several shortcomings: it is not entirely clear where the funding will come from, and the effectiveness of such a program is quite questionable.

According to him, the program lacks targeting, as winter support is only necessary for a specific list of citizens, namely: pensioners, low-income families, large families, and internally displaced persons.

The petition author also noted that for households with an average salary, this financial aid will not be as crucial, and the difference that would arise from clearer targeting would allow for larger payments specifically for those who genuinely need it.

As previously reported by “Judicial and Legal Newspaper”, the government has approved the presidential program to provide Ukrainians with 1,000 hryvnias. Assistance from the state under the "Winter eSupport" program is a one-time payment and will be available to Ukrainians residing in Ukraine, including children.

The program will be in effect from December 2024 to February 2025. It can be accessed through the Diia app and the "National Cashback" card.

It should be noted that the list of those eligible to receive the "Zelensky thousand" via Ukrposhta will be compiled by the Ministry of Social Policy.
