A convict sentenced for distributing a psychoactive substance requested a reduced sentence from the court. Here’s how it all concluded.

A 34-year-old resident of Chernivtsi has been sentenced to 7 years in prison with the confiscation of property, excluding his residence, for the illegal acquisition and storage with the intent to distribute a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance, PVP, committed in conspiracy by a group of individuals. This information was reported by the Chernivtsi Court of Appeals.

The panel of judges at the Chernivtsi Court of Appeals, which reviewed the verdict based on the defendant's appeal, confirmed the legality and justification of this decision and upheld it without changes.

The court established that in April 2024, in a residential area of the city, law enforcement officials detained a man whose bag contained 41 transparent packets with a white crystalline substance.

Prior to this, the convicted individual had retrieved his order from a hiding place located near the wall of a utility room, which he had purchased for distribution through an online store operator selling narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances via Telegram.

Expert examination confirmed that the packets contained the particularly dangerous synthetic psychotropic substance PVP, the circulation of which is prohibited. The total weight of the seized substance amounted to 4.7099 g.
