In Mexico, the 73rd Miss Universe International Beauty Pageant featured a national costume competition.

Miss Universe Ukraine Alina Ponomarenko took to the stage in an outfit that her team named the Power of the Earth. According to the creators, it symbolizes the bravery and resilience of Ukrainian Defenders, as well as the fertile Ukrainian land, encased in strong armor. The steel flowers in her hair serve as a reminder of the mines that dot the fertile Ukrainian soil due to the war.

“This armor is made from the indomitable spirit and courage of Ukrainian Defenders, and from the strength of loved ones waiting for their sons, daughters, men, and parents to return from war,” Alina shared about her outfit.
