A painting created by a humanoid robot was sold at auction for over $1 million, marking a first in the art world.

The portrait of English mathematician Alan Turing, created by the humanoid robot Ai-Da, was sold at a Sotheby's auction in New York for $1,084,800 (44.496 million UAH). This was reported by The Guardian.

The Turing portrait was created by Ai-Da in 2024 using a mixed technique on canvas.

Ai-Da paints based on what she sees, as she lacks imagination. She created the portrait after discussions with developers who suggested creating an image of Turing. They asked her what colors, style, tone, and texture to use in the painting before showing her a photograph of Turing, after which she began to paint.
