China opposes any actions that escalate the war in Ukraine, according to the Chinese embassy in the U.S. regarding the potential use of ATACMS against Russia.

China opposes any actions that could lead to an escalation of the war and increased tensions. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in the U.S., Liu Pengyu, while commenting on reports regarding the potential authorization for Ukraine to strike Russia using ATACMS missiles.

“China's position on the 'Ukrainian crisis' is consistent and clear. China is committed to promoting peaceful negotiations and opposes any steps that may lead to heightened tensions and escalation of the situation in the region,” he said.

The diplomat added that Beijing supports a peaceful diplomatic resolution to the war.

"Instead of adding fuel to the fire and exacerbating the conflict, the relevant parties should strive to create conditions for a political resolution of the 'Ukrainian crisis' through dialogue and negotiations, and make practical efforts to maintain peace," Liu Pengyu stated.
