Due to the thaw, there is a significant snow danger of level 3 expected in the highlands of Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine warns tourists about the avalanche risk period.
“On January 28, due to the thaw, a considerable snow hazard (level 3) is anticipated in the highlands of Ivano-Frankivsk region. Rescuers advise being cautious and not to venture into the mountains during the avalanche danger period,” the message from the State Emergency Service in Ivano-Frankivsk region states.
According to the Mountain Rescuers of Prykarpattia, at one of the highest peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians, reaching a height of 2028.5 m, Pop Ivan is cloudy, with a west wind at 18 m/s, and the air temperature is -3°C.
