Ukraine's national debt increased by nearly 1.5 trillion hryvnias over the past year.

In 2024, the total state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine rose by 1,461.30 billion UAH, which is equivalent to an increase of 20.74 billion USD, according to the Ministry of Finance.

The total state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine increased by 1,461.3 billion UAH during 2024, which is equivalent to an increase of 20.74 billion USD.

This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.

“As of December 31, 2024, the state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine amounted to 6,980.93 billion UAH, or 166.06 billion USD, specifically: the external state and state-guaranteed debt – 5,048.44 billion UAH (72.32% of the total state and state-guaranteed debt), or 120.09 billion USD; the internal state and state-guaranteed debt – 1,932.49 billion UAH (27.68%), or 45.97 billion USD,” the message states.

It is noted that the state debt of Ukraine amounted to 6,692.42 billion UAH (95.87% of the total state and state-guaranteed debt), or 159.20 billion USD. The external state debt was 4,829.29 billion UAH (69.18% of the total state and state-guaranteed debt), or 114.88 billion USD.

The internal state debt amounted to 1,863.13 billion UAH (26.69% of the total state and state-guaranteed debt), or 44.32 billion USD.

The state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine totaled 288.51 billion UAH (4.13%), or 6.86 billion USD, including:

  • state-guaranteed external debt – 219.15 billion UAH (3.14%), or 5.21 billion USD;
  • state-guaranteed internal debt – 69.36 billion UAH (0.99%), or 1.65 billion USD.

In 2024, the total state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine increased by 1,461.30 billion UAH in UAH equivalent, and by 20.74 billion USD in USD equivalent.
