The former head of the Brovary Regional State Administration, Maibozhenko, was fined 34,000 hryvnias for a drunk driving accident that resulted in injuries.

The Brovary District Court has fined former Brovary RGA chairman Vladimir Maibozhenko 34,000 hryvnias for hitting four people at a pedestrian crossing in April 2024. The court announced that it approved a reconciliation agreement between the accused and the victims; however, the prosecutor's office has already stated its intention to appeal this decision.

The man was given a mutually agreed-upon penalty of a fine amounting to two thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (34,000 hryvnias) along with a three-year ban on driving vehicles.

The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office plans to appeal the verdict of the Brovary City District Court.

They noted that they do not agree with the court's decision and will insist on overturning the verdict in the case of the former chairman of the Brovary RGA, who, while intoxicated, ran over four pedestrians, including a minor, in the city of Brovary in April 2024.

“The prosecutor has submitted a written objection regarding the impossibility of concluding a reconciliation agreement in cases of this category, the inconsistency of the agreement's provisions with the interests of society and the requirements of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (the punishment stipulated is not provided for by the sanction of the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and there are no grounds for imposing a milder punishment in accordance with the requirements of Part 1 of Article 69 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Moreover, the court denied the prosecutor's request to examine materials during the trial that indicate the absence of mitigating circumstances in the form of active assistance in uncovering the criminal offense by the accused. The procedural supervisor, due to circumstances raising doubts about the court's impartiality, submitted a motion to disqualify the presiding judge, which was denied,” the prosecutor's office stated.
