The elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, has nominated his personal attorney Will Scharf for the position of White House Secretary. This was reported by Politico.
“Will is a highly qualified lawyer who will be an important part of my team in the White House,” Trump said in a statement.
The publication notes that Scharf was a member of Trump's legal team regarding his case on federal election interference and his case on immunity in the Supreme Court, as well as participating in the confirmation of Trump's Supreme Court nominees Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.
“Scharf unsuccessfully ran for the position of Attorney General of Missouri, losing the Republican primary in August. Both Scharf and his opponent Andrew Bailey were supported by Trump. During the campaign, Scharf relied on his connections with Trump to bolster his candidacy,” Politico highlights.
In this role, Scharf will determine which memos, briefings, and reports will be presented to the president.
Previously, it was reported that Donald Trump plans to appoint Chris Wright as the Secretary of Energy.
