Donald Trump denied reports about the closure of the U.S. military base in Greece.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, during a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, dismissed claims from Greek media that the United States plans to cease the use of military facilities at the Greek port of Alexandroupolis.

“This is incorrect information,” he stated after clarifying and confirming with American officials.

The U.S. has access to Greek facilities under the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA), utilizing the port as a key transportation hub for the movement of personnel and equipment between the U.S. and Europe.

The use of the Alexandroupolis port is governed by a five-year MDCA agreement signed in May 2022, which includes provisions for an increase in U.S. military presence in Greece.
