Donald Trump appointed Republican representative Elise Stefanik as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

The elected President of the United States Donald Trump has nominated Republican Elise Stefanik for the position of U.S. Ambassador to the UN. This was reported by Reuters.

“It is a great honor for me to nominate Elise Stefanik as the U.S. Ambassador to the UN in my administration. Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and smart fighter for ‘America First,’” Trump stated.

This position was previously held by Nikki Haley, who challenged Trump in the 2024 Republican primary.

Elise Stefanik is a Congresswoman from New York and the chair of the House Republican Conference.

The agency notes that at the age of 30, she became the youngest woman ever elected to Congress.

She is regarded as a supporter of Trump. She stood by him during the first impeachment attempt in 2019 and continued to support him after the 2020 election loss, opposing the recognition of Joe Biden's victory in the House of Representatives and alleging fraud, adds Reuters.

If officially nominated, she will require Senate approval.

As reported, Trump has chosen Mike Waltz as National Security Advisor, and Marco Rubio as Secretary of State for the U.S.

Additionally, the names of candidates for the highest positions in Trump's administration have also been revealed.
