November 25th: What holiday is celebrated today and the key events taking place.

Today, November 25, the world observes the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999. This date aims to draw attention to the issues of violence and discrimination, which continue to be pressing concerns in many countries.

As part of this event, a global campaign titled "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" is launching, running until December 10 - Human Rights Day. The campaign includes educational activities, actions, and mass initiatives advocating for equality and the protection of women's rights. The color orange has become its symbol, representing hope for a world free from violence.

In the Orthodox tradition, this day honors the memory of Saint Clement the Martyr, as well as the feast day of the angels Basil, Peter, Victor, Paul, John, Nicholas, Kuzma, Clement, Gregory, Alexander, Yaroslav, Claudia, and Maria.
