At the Polish-Ukrainian border, at the Korcheva-Krakowiec checkpoint, authorities uncovered a smuggling operation involving alcohol valued at one million hryvnias. This information was reported by the Lviv Customs.
The driver of a Mercedes Sprinter minibus, a 21-year-old resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, declared only personal belongings during the customs inspection.
However, customs officials found 107 bottles of alcoholic beverages—whiskey, brandy, grappa, and cognac—in the luggage compartment during their inspection of the vehicle.
The customs officials estimated the value of the alcohol at approximately one million hryvnias and prepared an administrative protocol against the offender under part 3 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine for "Non-declaration of goods subject to prohibition and restrictions established by law."
The man faces a fine of 300 non-taxable minimum citizen incomes—5,100 UAH—with or without the confiscation of the goods.
