Carrot prices in Ukraine have surged significantly – what's behind the increase?

This week, the price of carrots in the Ukrainian market has increased. Analysts from the EastFruit project report this.

It is noted that the price rise is due to a significant increase in trading activity in this segment. At the same time, most farms have halted sales of high-quality carrots, anticipating even higher prices.

Currently, Ukrainian farms are managing to sell carrots at a price of 27-34 UAH/kg, which is, on average, 10% higher than the previous week.

Moreover, it is reported that carrot sales in Ukraine are currently taking place at an average of 3.6 times higher than during the same period last year.

“Market participants do not rule out that the price increase trend may be a temporary phenomenon. In their opinion, further price hikes could encourage farmers to start selling carrots from storage, which would lead to increased supplies and, consequently, a decrease in prices,” analysts note.
