In the American state of Indiana, 42-year-old Matthew Hattl was shot – a participant in the Capitol riot who was pardoned by US President Donald Trump. This was reported by BBC.
According to local authorities, a sheriff's deputy stopped Hattl's vehicle for a traffic violation the day before. A dispute ensued between them, during which Hattl resisted and was armed. The officer opened fire. The reason for the vehicle stop has not been disclosed. Hattl died on the spot.
Hattl was one of nearly 1,600 participants in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots, who were pardoned by Donald Trump last week.
It is worth noting that Trump pardoned around 1,500 individuals convicted for the Capitol riot. Trump's decree states a “full and unconditional pardon for all who were convicted of violating the law during the events that occurred on or near the grounds of the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.”
