The Russian vessel Ursa Major, which was transporting strategic cargo, sank in the Mediterranean Sea following an explosion in its engine room. This was reported by the publication "Crimean Wind."

The ship came to a halt at 20:25 Moscow time (19:25 Kyiv time). Immediately after this, the Spanish rescue vessel SALVAMAR DRACO SAR approached it. However, following the explosion, the vessel's AIS system ceased transmitting data.

By around midnight, Ursa Major had sunk. To manage the aftermath of the incident and collect spilled oil products, the vessel CLARA CAMPOAMOR was dispatched to the site.

The crew was evacuated to the port of Cartagena.

According to "Crimean Wind," Ursa Major was carrying strategic cargo - two 45-ton nuclear reactor hatches for the icebreaker project 10510 "Leader." These parts, covered with a blue tarp, were captured in photographs before the accident.
