In Romania, rescuers are searching for three Ukrainians who got lost in the mountains.

Three citizens of Ukraine, who found themselves in one of the most challenging areas of the Maramureș mountain range in Romania, have sought assistance from rescuers. This was reported by News.ro.

According to the Maramureș mountain rescue service, the Ukrainians are located in a hard-to-reach zone of the range. They requested help on the evening of December 24, indicating that they are exhausted, suffering from hypothermia due to wet clothing, and have run out of food.

A rapid response team was dispatched for their rescue, joined by border police and two additional rescue teams.

The service noted that this area is already known for its difficult conditions. Two years ago, also on December 24, a rescue operation was conducted for seven Ukrainians there. “The rescue operation was one of the most challenging due to both the weather conditions and the terrain configuration,” the service added.

The rescue operation is ongoing, and rescuers are urging caution during winter mountain travels.
