Germany's Defense Minister dismissed rumors about blocking military aid to Ukraine.

The German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius has denied media reports suggesting that Chancellor Olaf Scholz is allegedly blocking a new package of military aid for Ukraine. He stated this in a comment to Tagesspiegel.

“There is no blockade. We have prepared a new aid package for Ukraine at the Ministry of Defense. This now needs to be resolved politically,” Pistorius emphasized, expressing hopes for a positive decision.

Earlier, Spiegel reported that Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz was allegedly blocking a new large military aid package for Ukraine, which is being proposed by the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense.

The new aid package includes:

  • three batteries of the IRIS-T air defense system with ammunition,
  • missiles for the Patriot air defense system,
  • ten wheeled howitzers,
  • artillery ammunition.

The minister highlighted that the decision regarding the transfer of weapons to Ukraine is in the final stages of discussion.
