Footage has emerged on social media showing a "caravan" of Cybertruck electric trucks heading to areas in Los Angeles affected by the massive wildfires. Tesla and Starlink CEO Elon Musk confirmed that these vehicles are being utilized as mobile base stations to power Starlink internet terminals, facilitating emergency communications in regions lacking connectivity, reports Fox Business.
“We need to use these trucks as mobile base stations to power Starlink internet terminals in those areas of Los Angeles where there is no communication. The new truck will be delivered by the end of the week,” Musk wrote on social media platform X.
The billionaire also mentioned that Cybertrucks equipped with Starlink will provide free internet and will be deployed in a network across the most affected areas of Los Angeles and Malibu.
For additional support to those affected, security personnel will be involved with the Cybertruck, and snacks and drinks will be distributed to local residents.
As a reminder, wildfires have erupted in the vicinity of Los Angeles, Southern California, USA, with fatalities reported. The flames spread over an area equivalent to 5 football fields in just a minute and reached an upscale neighborhood where Hollywood stars reside. A state of emergency has been declared in the city.
