In Cherkasy region, a stepfather is suspected of killing his 2-year-old child after allegedly throwing him to the floor.

In the Cherkasy region, law enforcement has detained and charged a resident of the city of Smila with the murder of a child.

According to the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a 32-year-old stepfather grabbed the hand of his partner's 2-year-old son and threw him to the floor, causing the child to hit his head. He subsequently failed to call for emergency medical assistance for the toddler and put the boy to bed.

The mother discovered her son, who was no longer showing signs of life, and called for emergency medical services, who upon arrival confirmed the child's death.

Currently, the question of imposing a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect is being considered.

The perpetrator now faces a prison sentence ranging from three to eight years.
