The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved updated rules for the return of food products that do not meet quality standards or are unsafe for consumption on November 26. The rules specify clear timeframes for returning or exchanging food items based on their shelf life:

  • Within 24 hours – for items requiring storage at temperatures up to +6 °C.
  • Up to three calendar days – for products with a consumption period of no more than 14 days, provided their expiration date has not yet passed.
  • Up to 14 days – for items with a long shelf life exceeding 14 days.

If products were purchased online, the return period is calculated from the moment the order is received, not from the date of purchase. The document also outlines the procedures for both consumers and sellers during returns: how to file claims, how to check product quality, and under what circumstances refunds are applicable.
